Now day’s typically roping saddles are available in two forms of riggings which are normally called as “full rigged’ and “7/8 rigged”, in past the most commonly used roping saddles were “center fire rigged”. The characteristic of the center fire rigged is that, it allows more centered seating on the cattle. The advantage of the full rigged saddle is that it is more common in use for the powerful racings and it is also more secured as compared to any other saddle forms. The significant characteristic of the rigging is that, it makes the smooth handling of the cattle. That’s why based on the ringing quality the saddle forms varies greatly.
There are further two differentiated types of saddles: Single rigged and double rigged. In single rigged roping saddle there is only one cinch that is front cinch. There are basically two cinches on the saddle in double rigged saddle, one is the front cinch and the other is back cinch. Back cinch helps a lot in maintaining the balance of the rider in case of uneven ground. It also prevents the rising up of the back saddle during the riding. Breast collar is also one of the features of the saddle it basically prevents the sliding of the roping saddle.
The roping saddles are typically differentiated based on certain features, and these features are as follows: • Height of the antler • Seat size and form • Width of the gullet • Length of the saddle • Size of the saddle horn
The saddles are also differentiated based on the color and material typically used for manufacturing. For example the seat size varies and based on the size of the cattle as well. The seat forms can be either padded seat or the hard type. The choice of the saddle based on the unique features depends on the choice of the customer and on the usage as well.
