Nunavummiut urged to get measles and mumps vaccine before travelling – North

[ad_1] Nunavut’s Health department is asking residents to add the measles and mumps vaccine to their travel checklists. “There’s a lot of advertising and attention paid to international travel,” said Mike Patterson, a physician with the Department of Health, but this public service announcement was aimed at people traveling to southern Canada. There has been an uptick of confirmed cases in Ontario, Manitoba and Nova Scotia. Agency delays plan for keeping Asian carp from Great Lakes

(AP) — The Trump administration has delayed indefinitely a plan for strengthening defenses on a crucial Chicago-area waterway to prevent Asian carp from reaching the Great Lakes, where scientists say they could cause severe harm to native fish populations, officials said Tuesday. IRRRB votes for private management at Giants Ridge

[ad_1] The board approved a plan by IRRRB Commissioner Mark Phillips to consolidate several vendor contracts and to move all employees — including about 15 state employees at the site — under one private management company. The facility will remain owned by the state. Current vendor agreements expire in April and Phillips wants to move them to a single vendor for skiing, golf, food concessions and equipment rental as well as overall marketing and operations.
